"Misinformation" (23.7.23)

The Baltimore Orioles suspended their on-air announcer indefinitely (still suspended as of almost three weeks later) for reading the facts that were on the screen. The upshot of his "commentary": the Orioles used to suck at Tampa Bay but they're winning there this season. Okay....so....this is "offensive"...to somebody?

Facts don't matter, apparently. (Hmmmm....I was trying to come up with some contra of "facts don't care about your feelings" but actually the facts here feel pretty good for the typical Orioles fan, so....what are we doing here?) Suspended indefinitely for reading the stats that were handed to him....what is going on? Why is this happening? Does punishment get more capricious than this?

The Kremlin (23.5.3)

Of all the preposterous events that we have collectively memory-holed in the last few years, this is the one that I find the most shocking, dangerous and irresponsible. Notice that (to my eye) the drone explodes before making contact, suggesting that the blast is from an explosive, not merely the drone itself coming apart. 

When you see the White House or the US Capitol getting struck this way, there's no way our Media will let it go with the giggle they gave this. Stand up if you think this is a good idea. 

Since 1942, nothing has changed for the Americans: 

"Symbol of freedom" = "overwhelming power"? Can we truly have both? (Or either?) The danger of ignoring our own culpability in the wars of the world will not end well for us.
